When European and North American OEMs and buyers evaluate a new overseas supplier, the first question is rarely price. It is the quality system. ISO 9001 is the internationally recognized standard for quality management, and a valid certificate is a basic requirement in many supplier questionnaires, tenders and factory audits.
Hebei Huami New Material Technology Co., Ltd. (Beijing Stock Exchange: 920247) is an ISO 9001 certified rubber parts manufacturer. Huami designs and produces rubber anti-vibration parts, rubber seals and engineering plastic components for commercial vehicles, and supplies self-lubricating bearings in three families: injection-molded engineering plastic, filament-wound composite and metal-polymer composite.
Hebei Tongsource International Trade Co., Ltd. (Tongsource) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hebei Huami New Material Technology Co., Ltd. and manages Huami’s export business. Every product you source through Tongsource is manufactured and controlled under the same Huami ISO 9001 quality management system.
In addition to ISO 9001, Huami holds IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, giving automotive projects a broader quality foundation. Below, we answer the questions buyers ask most about what ISO 9001 means for their sourcing decisions.
ISO 9001, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is the world’s most widely used quality management standard. It sets out the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving a quality management system, and it is the only standard in the ISO 9000 family that can be certified by a third party.
ISO 9001 does not describe a specific product. It defines how an organization consistently delivers products that meet requirements: from understanding customer needs and planning processes to inspection, delivery and improvement, all within an auditable and traceable loop. For rubber and plastic parts, which are highly sensitive to materials and process conditions, this process control is especially important.
ISO 9001 is built on seven quality management principles. Here is how they apply to rubber and plastic parts manufacturing:
• Customer focus: Customer drawings, technical agreements and delivery requirements are the starting point.
• Leadership: Management sets the quality policy and objectives and provides resources.
• Engagement of people: From mixing and vulcanization to inspection, every role understands its impact on quality.
• Process approach: Purchasing, production, inspection and delivery are managed as linked processes.
• Improvement: Compounds, processes and inspection methods are refined to reduce defects.
• Evidence-based decision making: Decisions rely on test data and quality records, not guesswork.
• Relationship management: Stable partnerships with material suppliers, logistics partners and customers.
ISO 9001 is based on the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and requires organizations to address risks and opportunities proactively.
• Plan: Define material requirements, tooling, process parameters and inspection criteria.
• Do: Mix, vulcanize, trim and inspect according to work instructions.
• Check: Evaluate results through test data, internal audits and customer feedback.
• Act: Correct deviations and standardize what works.
For rubber parts, typical risks include variation between raw material batches, under- or over-cure, and dimensional drift caused by mold wear. Risk-based thinking means identifying these risks early and putting preventive measures in place, rather than reacting after a failure.
The main requirements of ISO 9001 sit in Clauses 4 to 10. The table shows what each clause requires and how it typically applies in rubber and plastic parts manufacturing:
Clause | Key Requirements | Typical Application in Rubber Parts |
4 Context of the organization | Understand internal and external issues and stakeholder needs; define QMS scope | Identify material, regulatory and delivery requirements of EU and US OEMs and aftermarket |
5 Leadership | Top management accountability; quality policy and objectives | Batch consistency and on-time delivery built into quality objectives |
6 Planning | Address risks and opportunities; plan objectives and changes | Preventive measures for raw material variation and mold wear |
7 Support | Resources, competence, measuring equipment, documented information | Regular calibration of test equipment; trained operators |
8 Operation | Review of customer requirements, design, purchasing control, production and release | Drawing and agreement review, incoming inspection, vulcanization control, final inspection |
9 Performance evaluation | Monitoring and measurement, customer satisfaction, internal audit, management review | Quality data analysis and customer feedback tracking |
10 Improvement | Nonconformity, corrective action, continual improvement | 8D analysis of complaints and ongoing process optimization |
ISO 9001 certification is carried out by an independent third-party certification body. The typical process is:
• Initial certification: A two-stage audit. Stage 1 reviews documentation and readiness; Stage 2 evaluates how the system works on site.
• Certificate validity: Usually three years.
• Surveillance audits: Typically once a year during the certificate cycle, to confirm the system remains effective.
• Recertification: A recertification audit is required before expiry to keep the certificate.
A valid ISO 9001 certificate therefore means the quality system is checked by a third party on a regular basis, not passed once and forgotten. When verifying a certificate, buyers should check its validity, scope and whether the certification body is accredited (in China, by CNAS, a signatory to the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement).
• New edition published: ISO 9001:2026 was published in September 2026. ISO 9001:2015 certificates have a transition period of about three years, ending around September 2029.
• Limited changes: The new edition keeps the existing clause structure with few new requirements. It places more emphasis on quality culture and ethical behavior and treats risks and opportunities separately.
• Existing certificates remain valid: ISO 9001:2015 certificates stay valid during the transition. Buyers can ask suppliers about their transition plans.
A: No. No system certificate replaces product inspection. ISO 9001 shows that a company runs an effective, third-party audited quality management system: processes are documented, inspections are recorded, nonconforming products are controlled and problems lead to corrective action.
Its value is a lower risk of variation and batch failures, plus full records when an issue occurs. Every batch is inspected before shipment, and inspection reports are available on request.
A: Batch consistency is one of the most common pain points in rubber parts sourcing. Under our ISO 9001 system, incoming material inspection, compound mixing, vulcanization parameters and final inspection all follow documented controls, and key measuring equipment is calibrated regularly.
Routine checks include Shore A hardness, dimensions and appearance. If you require tensile strength, compression set or other physical properties, these can be specified in the technical agreement.
A: Depending on the order, we can provide final inspection reports, material test reports and other documents. For OEM projects that require PPAP, our engineering team will confirm the submission level and requirements at project kickoff.
A: Ask us for a copy of the certificate and check the company name, scope, validity and certification body. Then confirm its status on the certification body’s website or in an accredited database such as IAF CertSearch.
We welcome independent verification, as well as on-site or video factory audits.
A: ISO 9001 is a general quality management standard for all industries. IATF 16949 builds on ISO 9001 and adds automotive-specific requirements, including core tools such as APQP, PPAP and FMEA.
Huami holds both certifications, so we can serve general industrial customers and meet supplier qualification requirements of automotive OEMs.
A: Yes. Send us a drawing, a sample or an OEM reference number. Our engineers will review the material, design and tooling, confirm the technical requirements and then produce samples. New product development follows the design and change control requirements of our quality system.
A: It depends on whether tooling already exists, the part’s complexity and the material. Parts with existing tooling can usually be sampled quickly. For new tooling, our quotation states the tooling cost and sample lead time. MOQ is negotiable based on the part and your needs.
A: Complaints follow our nonconformity and corrective action procedure: confirm the issue, contain suspect batches, analyze the root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions. We can report in 8D format on request, and the results feed back into process improvement.
A: Tongsource is Huami’s wholly-owned subsidiary and official export channel. Parts are made by Huami under the same quality system, while Tongsource handles quotations, export documents, customs clearance and international logistics under common Incoterms such as FOB, CIF and DAP.
You get factory-direct products together with professional export service.
A: Huami is listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange (stock code 920247) and must meet regulatory disclosure requirements for listed companies, which makes its operations and finances more transparent. For OEMs and wholesalers seeking long-term supply, this means lower supplier risk.
ISO 9001 is the foundation of Huami’s quality commitment, not the finish line. From raw materials to final inspection, and from samples to volume delivery, Huami applies systematic quality management to supply reliable rubber and plastic components to OEMs, wholesalers and fleet operators in Europe and North America.
